Learn to Dance in Lincolnshire

Gemma Shaw School of Dancing caters for children from 3 yrs + and offers classes in Ballet, Tap and Modern and musical theatre.

Adult classes are also available in Tap and Modern.

The Dancing School is based in Brant Broughton Village Hall in Lincolnshire.

Just off the A17, Brant Broughton is easily accessible from Newark, Sleaford and Lincoln.

British Ballet Organization

Teaching under the umbrella of the British Ballet Organization (BBO), the dancing school teaches syllabus and free-work. Examinations and Assessments can be taken but are not compulsory.

Children are encouraged to participate in all four subjects offered at the Gemma Shaw School of Dancing as they are complimentary to each other.

Classical Ballet

Nursery Ballet is available for girls and boys from the age of 3 yrs + and covers basic ballet steps/moves as well as encouraging imagery and creativity through mime and improvisation.

From 5 yrs +, children will work through the British Ballet Organization syllabus from Pre-Primary to Advanced level.

Tap Dance

Children can start Tap Dancing from 4 yrs +. Exploring rhythms and tempos, Tap helps develop musicality in all forms of dance.

Classes begin at Nursery level and then follow the BBO syllabus from pre-primary, through to advanced level.

Children are welcome to start Tap at a later age and will be graded accordingly.

Modern Dance

Incorporating a range of free-work and BBO syllabus work, modern dance is fun and energetic.

Modern dance focuses on fitness, strength and flexibility, whilst learning steps, exercises and routines to the latest pop songs.

Classes are split into different age groups. Children can start from the age of 4 yrs +.

Adult Classes

Beginners Adult Tap and Modern Classes are available.

These classes are designed to incorporate fitness and dance in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Welcome

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is available for children from school yr1 upwards. Pupils will be introduced to the basic art of musical theatre and will therefore learn to dance, sing and act simultaneously! Vocal Coach, Becky Vaughan also focuses on warm-ups and exercises to improve technique.

This is a fun class that encourages group participation.
